Footsteps away from a favorite Victorian vacation spot, The 1900 House retains the charm and grace of a bygone era.  Located in the historical village of Narragansett, this bed and breakfast is filled with antiques, collectibles, and turn of the century artwork.  Guest will enjoy openness, bright rooms, and close proximity to the beach, the famous seawall, and other historical sights.

During your visit you are invited to view the antique stereoscope, lift lids off the many wooden boxes to see what's inside, look through the two hat boxes filled with antique postcards, peruse the many handmade quilts, enjoy the porch in warm weather, shower "under the stars" in the outdoor enclosed shower, sample anything form Bill's garden and just forget about the modern world and relax.

This historic home has four bedrooms, freshly decorated.  The Blue Room has a canopy bed with a private bath, featuring an old fashioned claw foot tub.  The Fredrick Room has a classic marble in room sink.  Two other rooms, The Tara and The Green Room, share a bath, located in between the rooms.  One room has a large antique oak bed.  There is a cable TV in each room and a centrally located guest refrigerator for your convenience.

A full gourmet breakfast is served 8:30 to 9:30 each morning.

Just a block and a half away from the ocean, with its swimmers, surfers, anglers and boaters,  The 1900 House offers guests a chance to do it all or do nothing but stretch out on the wicker chaise on the porch and read a good book.  A leisurely walk will take you to fine dining, the cinema, and Memorial Park, where summer weekends bustle with art shows, Civil War reenactments, seafood festivals and carnivals.  On Friday evenings, the gazebo is filled with live music.  A short ride to Narragansett's authentic Fishing Port will offer you charter boats, tour boats and seafood at its freshest.  The Point Judith Lighthouse clings to the southern tip of Narragansett and provides a spectacular view of the ocean.

Historians can walk to South County Museum and the Victorian towers.  A short ride will take them to Smith's Castle, Gilbert Stuart Museum and the Museum of Primitive Arts and Culture.  Golfers have a choice of 10 different courses in the area.  Naturalists marvel at the unspoiled scenery and wildlife at nearby conservation and wildlife refuges.  The University of Rhode Island is 15 minutes away, while Providence is home to Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design.  Johnson and Wales University is just 35 minutes away.

A twenty-minute drive to Newport, the vacation land resort of the Victorian rich and famous, offers the chance to explore mansions and antique shops, or perhaps watch a movie being filmed, and then return to the tranquility of The 1900 House.
